Smithwick’s Red Ale has been brewed with passion since 1710. That’s when John Smithwick arrived in Kilkenny to start his own brewery. Since then Smithwick’s has consistently defied expectations. Brewed in secret for decades, it became the surprise toast of the town in 1892, winning the first prize in Dublin’s Rotunda Exhibition of Brewers and Distillers. The intense dark ruby-red appearance belies a subtle balanced profile – mild bitterness from hops that’s balanced by the sweetness of malt and roasted barley.
